Keep a Lid on Rust and Corrosion with VCI Emitters

An emitter is something that gives off, or sends out, a substance.

Vapor corrosion inhibitors (VCI) are a type of compound used to protect ferrous and non-ferrous metals from rust and corrosion.

When you combine the two, the result is (you guessed it) a VCI Emitter — a device designed to protect enclosed metal and metal parts from the evils of rust. VCI emitters use a range of carriers, such as polyether foam or chipboard, to host the VCI for use in various rust-prevention applications.

For best results, VCI emitters must be located in an enclosed space. When metal or metal parts and the VCI emitter are contained, the VCIs kick into action to create a blanket of protection on the surface of the metal that repels rust. VCI emitters are ideal for use in packaging, cabinets, closed bins, boxes, storage and/or shipping containers.

A Soft-Sided Approach to Hard-Hitting Rust Prevention

Protect small/fragile metal parts or electronics with ARMOR SHIELD® VCI Foam Emitter Pads, a soft packaging material that takes a hard line on rust prevention. We’ve combined the rust-preventing power of ARMOR’s proprietary VCI Nanotechnology™ (a.k.a., our “secret recipe” for vapor corrosion inhibitor) with open-cell polyether foam to offer a VCI emitter that provides cushion and corrosion prevention.

ARMOR SHIELD VCI Foam Emitter Pads are designed for long-term storage of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and are ideal for use in small, enclosed spaces, in the packaging of metal parts, in domestic and export shipment, inventory storage or in electrical or mechanical cabinets. While VCI Foam Emitter Pads are lightweight and flexible they provide hard-nosed protection against dirt, dust, humidity and the evils of rust.

ARMOR combines its proprietary VCI Nanotechnology™ (a.k.a.,its  “secret recipe” for vapor corrosion inhibitor) with 30 pt. fiberboard to create a rust-eradicating VCI chip that is ideal for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

When it comes to rust prevention, ARMOR leaves no “chip” unturned. We embed VCI on BOTH sides of our ARMOR SHIELD VCI Chipboard to make them easy-to-use and to provide maximum metal protection. Add ARMOR VCI chips to any bag of sealed metal parts or interleave them between layers in a container. Viola — metal parts are safe from rust and corrosion and ready for long-term storage or shipment.

ARMOR SHIELD® CF33 VCI EMITTER

It’s Shield-Shaped to Warn Rust and Corrosion that ARMOR VCI is on Duty

Look to the ARMOR SHIELD® CF33 Corrosion Inhibiting Emitter (we call it the Shield for short), in its signature shield-shape, to protect ferrous and non-ferrous metals from rust and corrosion. We combined the rust-preventing power of ARMOR’s proprietary VCI Nanotechnology™ (a.k.a., our “secret recipe” for vapor corrosion inhibitor) with open-cell polyether foam to produce the Shield, an emitter that protects against corrosion for up to 33.5 cubic feet with an effective reach radius, in all directions, of two feet. As an added bonus, the Shield has a controlled emission rate to allow for even and continuous protection.

Use this little-badge-of-rust-eradication in enclosed, non-ventilated areas such as electrical cabinets, HVAC rooms, control boxes, utility boxes, gun cabinets, or export containers. It is also effective where other VCI packaging materials are not possible or practical such as in returnable trays, containers or long-term storage applications.
